It All Began Ten Years Ago.
My husband and I bootstrapped a carpentry business ten years ago and have built it into a successful construction company that today supports our family and enables us to live a life of our choosing. The continual growth of our business is a result of hard work and a decade’s worth of trialled and tested processes that now act as the company’s blueprint, refined over time to deliver profitable and time-saving results. The best part? Your trade business can apply our effective processes and procedures too! Who wouldn’t want to learn a decade’s worth of knowledge in the time it takes to draw up a client quote?
Hey there, I’m Holly, the coastal mum from Behind the Tools. I’m here to serve tradies and their entrepreneurial partners in the art of transforming overwhelming business management into simple, profitable solutions.
Your time is too precious to be wasted on inefficient systems that leave you frustrated and confused.
The world of construction is multifaceted, with many moving parts. Managing every aspect is necessary if you want your business to be successful.
Being a talented tradesperson is not enough. You need confidence in your knowledge of the laws and codes of conduct that govern the construction industry, and how to liaise and manage relationships with customers, affiliate trades, suppliers, and architects. Project management, bookkeeping, accounting, and marketing are part of the daily operations, and this is where I step in.
What starts as something energising for most small business owners can quickly turn into something overwhelming and energy-depleting. No matter what stage of the business you’re at — or perhaps you haven’t started yet — on my blog, you can find a wealth of information on marketing, finance, tech, quoting and estimating, while unpacking the various tools that could help change your business and life!
Give it your very best, but most of all, be kind. Don't forget to enjoy the simple pleasures in life!
Overly complicated procedures and jargon that excludes the majority from learning and benefiting.
Running our construction business, making dinner, at the beach, running and doing the dang laundry (did I mention I have three sons?).
Morning meditation, sweaty gym sesh or run, coffee, and good skincare (Drunk Elephant, what!)
